QUESTIONS

  • I've read that Az. doesn't recognize common law marriage. However, I can't find information to clarify what occurs with a partnership after a given number of years. I've been cohabitating with a lady for 7 years, and recently was told "you've been together long enough that everything you have is community property." I'm concerned about our separate investments that we each have willed to our respective children. Thanks for any information you might be able to provide.
  • My landlord does not fix things (like my stoves/ovens). What is the process of having fixed myself and deducting it from my rent?
  • I worked for an AC company and during that time of my employment my AC needed service. They fixed it at a discount price and we agreed that I would make weekly payment until the balance is paid. Well I was terminated before being able to pay off the balance. My question is can they withhold that from my final paycheck? Also they're charging me for a price book that I dont have and some uniforms that were missing but I turned in whatever uniforms I had. Can they withhold that as well?
  • I'm wanting to change my kids last name to my last name how do I go about it?? Father is not in the picture he is in prison for 12 years, that being said i want to make sure when he comes out he can not use my sons identity due to him being a jr main reason for the name change.
  • When my son was born my boyfriend signed the paternity affidavit saying that he was the father but I had full custody over my son. Now we are separated and he wants partial custody over him. What steps do we have to go through in order to make that happen?
  • my son's girlfriend had a baby, my son signed the birth certificate. now this other guy wants a paternity test to see if it's his. can he do this? does he have any rights even though my son signed the birth certificate?
  • I am considering applying to receive child support with NO visitations. My sons father often changes his contact information without informing me. He makes plans to see his son, then disappears for long periods of time. I have never denied visitations, but still he has not seen his son in 25 months and has not provided any financial assistance whatsoever. The list goes on, but in short his father is not emotionally invested and I worry that this will be emotionally and morally damaging to my son. Is this the kind of case where no visitations would be granted?
  • My uncle passed away and owned an RV and other property that he paid lot fees inside an RV park. He has lived there for many years. The RV Manager and Owner are refusing to allow payments to keep the lot reserved while we get court papers to become executor of his estate. They intend to "evict" for non-payment if we have not removed the property by the end of the month. They will not let us access to his property without court papers. Can they refuse to accept payment from us and what are they legally required to do with his property?
  • We moved into a house and the hot water heater doesn't work. We submitted a maintenance request on 4/22. 7 days later I sent an email for status. 05/01 a tech came out to do repairs. 05/02 the pilot light still won't stay lit. I submitted a second maintenance request.on 05/02. It is now 05/06 14 days in out new rental home and there is still no hot water. I emailed for status on 05/05.. Still waiting to hear back from Re/Max. What are my rights? Can I replace the water heater and deduct it off my rent payment?
