I have used the last name of my mothers second husband for my whole life. I was unaware that I was not officially adopted or entitled to use the name until recently with the new ID law coming into effect. Can I change my name legally now. If I do so will my wife have change her name. even though we were married several years ago? every thing I own is in the last name of my step dad does that matter if I change it now?

My landlord just have us 2 months notice to move by text message. Can my landlord due that during a time of state emergency?

My 4yo daughters biological “father” hasn’t seen nor spoken to her in just shy of 6months which was just a call on her birthday and hadn’t spoken to her several months before that. He hasn’t paid child support for almost a year and a half. And he has only physically seen her 4 times in her entire life 3 of which I brought her to him in a different state. Mind you I was with her the entire time they were never alone nor has he ever cared for her by herself. I am considering remarriage. I am a widow & receive widows SS benefits. I also work full time, own my own home(mortgage on it) vehicle(no lien) savings. I just found out my fiancee(age 64) has not paid income taxes since the 1970's(Tea Party does not believe in paying) the IRS has seized his SS benefit. He has no savings & little income(electrician works for himself). Says he plans on filing a lawsuit against the IRS for his SS. How would this situation affect me if we were to marry? He can also take his union retirement anytime, would the IRS sieze this also? Can they lien any of my SS benefits and/or put lien on my house if we were to marry? I feel they could, he says no that if we did a prenuptial agreement, would be fine. I disagree, the IRS could care less about it. I am not going to marry him regardless but would like to be better informed. Thank you

when I divorced my ex wife in 2003, the decree did not state a clear awarding of my military pension since I was still active. I will be going to court to fight the amount I have to pay. She waited over 19 months to let me know she wanted the money. I agree to pay but only at the lower amount (E5) vice (E8). any info is greatly appreciated.

I am the father of an 8 year old daughter born out of wedlock. No legal paternity has ever been established, but I've maintained a close relationship with my daughter all along as well as paid child support from day one. I would like to begin the process of obtaining legal joint (if possible) custody of my daughter ahead of fears my ex may try to relocate again (already moved from to CO to AZ). I believe I will need to establish legal paternity which is no problem as I am on the birth certificate and my ex will agree, as well as establishing permenant visitation rights and also the ability to bar her from moving again. Is there a step by step process available online to set this into motion? I am unable to afford an attorney, but might be able to afford a paralegal? Please advise.

The duplex I live has no heating, when i signed the agreement there wasn't anything said it wasn't working. Does owner need provide heating to all the residents here? I have three small kids and it's too cold, especially with tile flooring.
