  • We rent a house from our landlord. The house has a swamp cooler the connection from the swamp cooler to the water faucet broke. It caused my water bill to increase by $80. My landlord is telling me that it's my responsibility to know if something is broken and therefore I am responsible for the increase. I informed them immediately after I knew and shut the faucet off. The connection is something that needs to get replaced every year. Is my landlord right? Am I responsible for the water bill increase?

  • Aug. of 2010 the sheriff came to my house telling me the landlord called them because no one should be living there and I needed to call her. He dialed his cell phone. The lady on the other end said I need to send my rent to her. I asked what happened to my landlord was she dead and did not get a response. On Sept 1st I started to send her my rent. We have no written or verbal agreement. The property tax bill is in a dead persons name. Now she wants to evict me because I told her the roof leaks. Can she do this?

They now are trying to evict for late rent payment they refused because I didn't include utility charges due to the unlawful ways of billing proof. I told them to first meet the request's of the lease and then it will be paid. I had full rent $400.00. Utilities are separate from rent. Can they still refuse my rent payment for space? And what are my rights if lease is unlawful?
