When my husband and I were in the process of being approved for an apartment we were told that we each needed to prove that we had income. My husbands income was enough to cover the requirments, but I needed to have income in case my husband left me. We were able to get into the apartment because I have a very small income from working at home. I am worried that this will come up again when we move to a new apartment. Is this discrimination against families with stay-at-home moms?

We had no written agreements and now my mother is selling it and suing me and the other parties for damages. Since she is selling the home and not repairing it, is she able to sue us for damages and unpaid "rent"?
