QUESTIONS

  • I have perm. legal guardianship of a child and the mother is wanting visitation. Due to a recent event I feel it is no longer safe to allow unsupervised visitation. Is there a way to get her supervised visitation? Is there community programs to help with this or does this have to be filed through the courts?
  • I am on probation for 2 misdemeanors. My wife accepted a job in Nevada and I have been offered one with the same company. How can I get my probation transferred to Nevada. Please don't tell me to ask my PO as he has stated that my wife has to be in Nevada for 6 months before Nevada would agree to transferring my probation. I have not been able to find any evidence that this statement is true. I was also told I am not eligible for Interstate Compact treatment. Please help.

  • Small Claims Court -- What are the boundaries of cases that can be brought before this court?
  • I filed a small claims complaint against a former roommate of mine when after I decided to leave he only gave me some of my personal belongings back and kept other items that he knew were important to me. I won the case and received a judgment for the amount that I requested. However, in the complaint two of the items I did not place a dollar amount next to because I knew he was still in possession of them (two portraits drawn by my brother that are very dear to me) and I wanted them returned. He had indicated in his Answer that he was in fact in possession of those items but wanted to be reimbursed for framing them. The hearing officer indicated we would need to take up the matter in a different forum due to the fact that they were personal property that I wanted to have returned. After the judgment was ordered I prepared a letter to the defendant and requested that he return the portraits to me and deduct the cost of framing from the judgment and I would then give him a satisfaction of judgment and we would be finished with this matter. About two weeks later I received a check for the amount of the judgment and a letter stating that he no longer was in possession of the artwork (he did not state what in fact became of my portraits). I decided to have the artwork appraised as I had photographs of the artwork as well as other drawings my brother had done. I then prepared a demand letter, again in an effort to resolve the matter without going to court. He did not respond in the time in which I had requested - (20) days. My question is do I have the right to file a Complaint for Conversion of Personal Property requesting to be compensated for damages (the price for the artwork as well as punitive damages and costs incurred)? And, if so, can I still file in small claims court as long as the amount I am seeking does not exceed $2,500 exclusive of court costs?

  • My ex's visitation is every other holiday break and half of the summer. He disappears for months at a time, last time being 4 months and he was in jail; he is also far behind on his support. He now wants to have them for the summer in TX. I have qualms about it because the last time he took them out of state, he didn't bring them home, I had to figure out a way to go get them. Additionally, the last time he had them here for their break, he had me pick them up after 6 days because he couldn't handle it. Can I legally deny him visitation out of state?
  • Before my husband died in 2007 we took out a loan with citi financial. Our 2004 truck was used as collateral. My husband was the primary signer. I paid on this loan as long as I could but stopped 4 years ago. The truck was never repossessed and still sits in my yard. I contacted Citi as I was willing to give up the truck. They told me I had to send them a death certificate. But if they had repossessed it they would just come pick it up. They also said to get the title back I would need to send them an estate administrator document. According to the probate judge this would cost about $1,000. I cannot afford that. will I be able to ever get the title back?
  • can a grand parent file for child support when the mother is a minor but does not want it?

The landlord let an exterminator in to the apartment when no one was home with permission. After this, the landlord stated that the apartment was a health hazard because of clutter & cat small & it had to be fixed. Landlord contacted Housing assistance & complained. They said it had to be corrected. The apartment was cleaned, the majority of belongings were thrown away, & everything was tidy, still not good. 8 tenants when moved in, now 2. What recourse?
