  • We had an installer for a cable company in our house. My dog broke through the gate and bit his pants which scraped his leg. No puncture through the skin, no bleeding. Not trying to minimize what happened. It was scary. He put in a claim with his workmans comp. Now the Workmans Comp insurance company is sending us notices that we are responible to re-emburse them. The notice says "Medical Lein" Is this legal? They are being paid by the company and they also want to collect from us? The letter says I should submit a claim to my home owners insurance. Help?   • We have been renting our current property for 3 yrs. It changed owners after the first yr. We live in a 3 bedroom our first yr lease had us paying 750 a month rent. When the new owners renewed the following yr they raised the rent to 800 a month. Upon our third renewal and 2nd yr with new owners they raised the rent to 850 a month. This will be our 4th renewal 3rd lease with new owners and they have offered lease renewal for 1851 a month. This is a 1000 dollar increase monthly. Not only does it appear unethical, it seems illegal. Is this illegal? Fmr for this area is about 1360.
  • I was served my notices and went to court with my landlord. She got a judgement against me for unpaid rent and was granted a writ of restitution to be received on 9-1-09. On the morning of 9-1-09 when I returned to the property to finish moving, she had locked the gates. My dogs were still there and I had not been served the writ by the constable. Turns out that she did not received the writ until 10:18 that morning but the gates were locked at 8:48 a.m. Does the writ have to be served or is it just given to the landlord and they can do as they please?

Can they legally proceed while excluding the partial payment in their possession from the court documentation summons all together? No 5 day notice was received via certified mail and no agreement entered into that they can accept partial payment and still pursue to evict. Please help.
