  • Hi, I am trying to get my security deposit back after two months since moving out, and I am preparing for a small claims court case. My question is: Can I use text messages in the small claims court case to provide documentation of what the other party said to me and to also help establish a timeline of events? If so, how should I go about doing this (bring the phone, print out the text messages from my phone, etc.)? Thanks!
  • I have 3 children their father has been in and out of prison since 2004, their last actual contact with him was in 2005. can i file for a severance under abandonment statue? He was released in 2007 and had certain court orders to abide by in order to recieve supervised visitation he failed to do so. What must i prove that he has abandone my children since I have been the sole provider for them with no help physically, financially from their father.

We are protected under the Protecting Tenants in Foreclosure Act, and can stay for the duration of our lease. We are willing to leave in 60-90 days, to give us time to find another rental. If the PTFA expires on 12/31/14 are we still protected on 1/1/15? Can they give us more time but then come back on Jan. 1st and evict us? Are we protected past the expiration of the act because we signed our lease before the foreclosure?
