Question: For some one on food stamps; is a gift card to Walmart or Toys R Us considered income? Should someone report this type of gift as income?

Answer:

Answer:  Someone on food stamps (now called Nutrition Assistance Program) generally has to report all income.  However, because gift cards would be considered a gift, it would not need to be reported as income.
