  • I recently moved out of an apartment, I was there for about 4 years. Now I am currently looking for a new place to live. I found a house for rent, the rental agency requires my most current landlord to verify that I did live at that address and paid rent. When they called him to verify, he refused to answer any questions. Can he do that? Now I may have a lot harder time finding a place to rent.
  • My roommate and I got into a fight, now she wants me to leave and is threatening to file an OoP to get me to move out. Is there anyway to protect myself from such an injunction and maintain ability to stay in my own home? She claims I'm going do her physical harm, and I think her claims are unwarranted. Help I have no where to go and I've been here longer than she has.

  • I went to my acoholic ex-husbands to check on him. He had given me a key. I entered his apartment after calling and leaving messages and knocking. After I entered the apartment I was attacked and beaten. The police came. I never hit him. I end up in the hospital for the night with facial trauma and lacerations to my had with broken glass in it still. The police said I could not file charges on him because I was in his residence. He tried to kill me. What can I do?? I have cut all connections with him and am not answering any of his call to me or his children. I am scared.
  • I live in a condo complex. One of the other owners has been storing property in a storage bin which is not her own. She appropriated it when it went into foreclosure. The current owner wants that storage bin. What can we do? The lock is still on and the woman (a lawyer, by the way) refuses to remove it.
  • I am a foreign national married to a US citizen and am currently preparing my immigration package to become a permanent resident. For the affidavit of support I got a bank statement showing payments from my main source of income, but it contains a disclaimer from the bank stating that they do not guarantee its correctness. I am worried it might affect whether it is accepted as evidence. Could this disclaimer become a problem in the immigration process?

  • I have a court date coming up in a few days for a petition for Emergency custody my wife has asked her attorney for. I am looking for a paid attorney for myself, I think I have found one but she wont be able to do so for about a week or two, so she said to request the courts grant a continuance to give her time to prep for my defense. I am wondering how I can go about requesting this without a lawyer present? Will the judge be able to do this?
