QUESTIONS

  • If a seller provides a counteroffer on a property, does the seller have to approve the offer in writing or in a new contract?
  • My girlfriend and I allowed her brother (a 300lb man) to crash with us after he got evicted. After about 2 1/2 weeks we realized this was a terrible idea and told him he needed to leave. He packed most of his things and left but took some things that didn't belong to him. Upon him returning for the last if his stuff, we told him he was not allowed to enter the premises and we would bring him his stuff. He got mad and tried to force his way into the house and my girlfriend fought him off. She got arrested for"hitting" him. Isn't this still a form of self defense considering he doesn't live here
  • I bought a mobile home in a park. I pay space rent and a payment on the mobile. I received a list showing breakdown of interest and principal. I also paid a 5,000 down payment. She refuses to give me a title with her as the lien holder. I cannot sell it because I do not own it. It is my understanding is that I should just move out. She would own the mobile. She gives me -0- not even my down payment. My understanding is that AZ is a title holding state. Not a lien holder state. What is right. What can I do?
  • Six months into a twelve month lease my landlord sold the property. Now the new landlord is telling me that I must sign a new lease. Although she is not raising our rent, other provisions of the new lease are objectionable to me. Must I sign this new lease to preserve my status as a legal tenant, or must the new landlord accept the terms of my original lease?
  • i'm a 16 year old who recently moved to phoenix. my parents have been going through an ongoing horrible court case. my mother suffers from 9 mental illnesses and constantly emotionally abuses me and my 8 year old brother. as a result of the court case which started in nevada, we stay with our mother on the 1st, 2nd and 4th weekends of every month but it is absolutely unbearable. i was wondering if when i turn 18 i could adopt my brother even though our mother will never sign the papers. my brother is also adopted from birth.
  • I am a PhD student at a private university. My program was sold to me as a 3.5 year program. I started the program in February of 2015 and had a completion date of July 2018. This is indicated on my student loan document. Through 2016 and 2017 had been working on an approved dissertation. In January of 2018, (6 months prior to finishing) I was informed my dissertation was no longer approved and I would need to start a new one. This extends my program by more than a year. More loans, more work... This is a frequent tactic by this university. Brings them in a lot of money, learners lose
  • Our 16 year old son became aggressive after a shopping outing and began beating up my wife taking her to the ground. We are wondering what legal options we have since the answer we are getting from all agencies is that we just have to deal with it and work it out ourselves. We are looking for help of any kind including juvenile detention or detainment in a health facility. I am afraid to leave the house if our son is there and afraid of what he might do in the middle of the night since he has uttered death threats.
  • I have full physical custody and shared legal custody. years ago we agreed he would get the tax write-off for our child 2 yrs in a row, I one. This is no longer fair as he has her for less than 100 days/yr and she's a teenager w a lot more expenses. He refuses to change to every other year. What recourse do I have?
  • I paid partial rent on space in park by money order. Landlord accepted it and now served me with eviction notice. Now they say they never got money order. Do I have recourse? Can they evict me after I paid most of the rent? I own my trailer and they want me to abandon it so they can steal it. It is my only home. No place to to. What can I do???
  • My boyfriend was arrested last night for aggravated assault against me. I told the police that he has a history of mental illness and that he needed to go to a psychiatric hospital but they took him to jail anyway. I am not pressing charges but I am afraid the state will. How do I help him get the charge dropped and get mental help?
