QUESTIONS

  • What are the collection rules for credit card debt? I have a visa with a significant balance (^8K)and have just been contacted by a collection agency. I don't have the money to pay it. Can they sue me, garnish me, etc?
  • My boyfriend owes almost $100,000 to the State of California. He is paying off the welfare that his ex wife was on. His paychecks are garnished and as of a few days ago his bank account was too. I was planning on joining the Navy in the spring and we wanted to get married. My question is: Will his child support debt transfer to me?Will they be able to garnish my wages and bank account? Will any of this be put on my credit score?
  • My father has become unable to live independently. He has no estate, nothing of value-only his 1440 SS monthly income. He has 7000$ in credit card debt as well as 4000$ in medical bills. I am looking into placing him in an assisted living or nursing home as it's too difficult for us as a family. My question is -how do I absolve his debt? Chase calls MY home phone daily-despite my discussing the situation with them, as well as the medical bill.
  • I've lived in Arizona since February. My husband is in the military. I am now pregnant, & want a divorce. He is verbally abusive and has a strong temper. He just recently tried to commit suicide and was in the pyschiatric hospital. Can I get a divorce while pregnant? Or what about an anullment since he tried to kill himself? Thanks.
  • I will like to change my first name what would i need to do?
  • i'm a tenant senior asking if my landlord has to provide heating for me in the winter. hope to hear from you soon. thanks
  • I am a landlord and have a question about my legal rights to be notified by the power company (SSVEC) before they shut off service because the Tennant did not pay their electric bill. The signed rental contract gives permission to the power company to notify me of a pending shut off. They have this agreement on file. It gets below freezing here and this puts our units at risk of having frozen or bursting water lines. Also the smoke detectors are disabled. I never want the utilities turned off on the apartments because of this. They just shut off the power for 10 days before I'm aware.
  • we agree on everything just want the divorce. How long will it take? We don't want to wait 60 days we just want ot sign the papers and get it done now.
  • We are told a new law became effective in Jan. which requires changes to the Trust having to do with notifying beneficiaries every year of the amount of the estate and their inheritance. Is it true? The lawyer wants the full price of the trust to amend it. Can I find the law on the Internet? Is it boilerplate and easily done without using that same lawyer? Please direct me. Thank you.
  • We own a ground floor condo. The condo above us is rented to some very noisy people, including loud repetitious boom-boom "music". Police have been here 4 times. What can we do? What proof is required to avoid the "he said, she said" problem? The boom-boom from morning to late night is making our home uninhabitable.
