QUESTIONS

  • I have a roommate that lets her boyfriend come over everyday and stay over every night. We are only paying rent for 2 people, not 3. I have tried talking to her about it and how this is not what I signed on for. Is it legal for her boyfriend to be basically living with us for free?
  • How long does a tenant have to file a lawsuit against a landlord for disposing of tenants property. My landlord disposed everything I owned for 30 years after I was evicted and forced to leave at a moments notice. 12 days later everything I owned was discarded without any notice to me. Is ther anything I can do.

  • I have a signed lease that states my rent is $680 for my student apt. Before moving in the apartment was changed and the new rent became $50 more per mo. I paid this, but never signed an adendum to the original lease - this is my first apt rental. Do I have any recourse to ask for the $50/mo back (now totaling $250) since the amount was never part of my lease or because I paid it, does it mean implied acceptance and binding. They are charging me a break lease fee and I'm trying to get them to come down on the amount. I feel I was taken advantage of since I'm young.

However I never received a Court summons by a servitor and never received any certified mail. I went to the office to get copies of the paperwork and all she gave me was a copy of the eviction action and the writ of restitution. Can they evict me without notifying me of the court date?

  • I have a month to month lease agreement. This is a room rental in my home that I reside in as well. The lease agreement was basic. The issue is he got involved in drugs. In less then one months time he lost the house keys and both times told me I needed to change the locks. This past time he was arrested and ended up in jail. He voluntarily went into a sober home. I did not offer to give him a replacement key nor denied him access. Just timing and events. He did ask after therapy if he could like with me again. I told him no. I did offer to wash clothes and bring to him. Can he sue me
