QUESTIONS

  • My son's father and I have never been married. We have never filed anything through the courts. therefore, it has been my understanding that I am the custodial parent. What are his father's rights in this situation? His name is on the birth certificate, does that legally establish paternity?
  • Hello, my husband & I purchased an older home in Aug. The Sellers listed on the disclosure statement that they treated for roof rats. However, they didn't solve the issue. It has taken us 6 months to resolve the problem not to mention a lot of money. Since it was listed on the disclosure statement, do we have any recourse?
  • If a couple married for 14 years and live in the same house in case of divorce who owns the house if the house was bought before the marriage by one of the spouse?
  • I am pregnant with my first child. the father wants nothing to do with they baby. I want to file for child support but do ihave to have the baby before i start to recieve the child support?
  • Our landlord overlooked a 4% increase in rent over the past two years and has issued an invoice for the past amount. Keep in mind he has issued invoices each month in an amount which we paid. Is the landlord allowed to charge an amt greater than the monthly invoices (ratification).
  • at what age can the child decide which parent they want to live with full time, i.e. court is now out of the decision process. custody is totally in the mindset of the child.
  • I had my daughter 2 months ago and allowed my, then boyfriend, to sign stating that he was the baby's father. His name is on the birth certificate but we have since found out that he is not the baby's father. What do I have to do to get his name off the birth certificate now. We are no longer together and the biologicial father wants to be on the birth certificate. What do I have to do?
  • My mothers health has drastically changed and she only lives on social security, a very small disability bi-weekly stipend and has medicare. While my mother has been accepted for medicaid as a secondary insurance, she will have to contribute monthly of $406 so that she will be able to have full time home health care (vs only part time with medicare). This expense will make it impossible to help her pay her credit card debts off. My mother needs to contribute to medicaid but then won't have enough to pay off her debts. What are options as far as her credit cards? Should I close them (with her on the phone) and let them know that she is unable to pay so we'd need a settlement price? Or just walk away? I am unsure of her options as my original plan was to help her pay them off one by one.
  • I live in a rental apartment. The microwave oven door fell apart and when I called to have it repaired I was charged for the repairs which cost more than if I had replaced the oven. There are also fees that were added on for community amenities that were not listed in the lease, such as community electricity and common gas, and valet waste and waste management. ?Can the apartment complex charge me for these even though they are not listed in the lease?
  • My husband passed away three months ago. The insurance company requested me to furnish appointment of guardianship to release the benefit of my daughter (under 18) under the Group Term Life Insurance. What should I do?
