QUESTIONS

  • I was a stay-at-home mom for the majority of my marriage. During that time I accrued some student loans. In our separation agreement we each agreed to pay half of that, and any other, debt. A lawyer I spoke with stated that I am eligible for alimony (we were married 9 years and I stayed home for 6 of them), but my spouse takes great exception to this. He believes that since I did not contribute, monetarily, I should not be entitled to alimony. What should my expectations be?
  • We rented from a complex in Phoenix with a 13 month lease. We gave a 30 day notice and broke our lease after 6 months for my wife to take a job in PA. The lease states that we are responsible for the entire amount due UNTIL the apt is rented. That amounts to $11,000! It is now in collections, so I called to see if the apt. has been rented yet. I was not told if it has been, but the mgr. said it does not matter because we are still responsible for ALL of the rent, since we did not pay it all when we moved out. . Can they charge us for rent on an apt that is being rented? If so--RIDICULOUS

My friend's wife refuses to provide him with any information as to these items and he is trying to put together his petition for dissolution. He is afraid that even if these monthly payments total more than his monthly gross income, he will be ordered to pay both spousal maintenance and child support. She also refuses to discuss joint custody.
  • Back in 2005 I was convicted of undesignated assault. am I able to get my rights to own a firearm back as long as it was a fistfight and no weapon was used? I was released from the system in 2007 and completed parole.

  • My daughter, received garnishment papers from her employer from an apartment she defaulted on. She was never notified of any garnishment by the collection agency; she was never served or summoned to court regarding the debt. Do they have to notify her before obtaining a garnishment?
  • My ex and I bought a house in Feb 2018 and after he cheated on me we broke up. The title is in both of our names so I know he has just as much as a right as I do for the house. However, I am living there until we make a decision on how we will be handling the house. On 9/27 he came in and took appliances out of the home. Is this legal? I was lead to believe that the appliances could not be removed or sold by either parties.
