QUESTIONS

  • Hello. My ex husband and I were not married nor was he around and in the picture when our son was born so I gave our son my last name. My son is going on 8 years old and my ex wants to change his last name to his. My only issue at this point is my son knows his last name by now and I don't think it's right to change it if it's not something he wants to do. At what age will the court take my son's thoughts into consideration before forcing him to change his name? Thank you!
  • I have been employed in AZ. for 36 years to a Texas based company. They have sent notice that I enroll in direct deposit by Dec.1st,2014 in accordance with a collective bargaining agreement made by my union in july 2008. providing that, "the carrier may implement arrangements for the direct deposit of any payments due its employees covered by this agreement." They did not offer alternatives or consequences for failure to do so, only that I would be "subject to remedy." Can they force me to direct deposit or "remedy"? I currently receive my pay bi-monthly via USPS. Thank you.
  • I have been out on disability leave of work since July 1st from my job and was denied my claim. My Dr. has said I should not return to work, but since I have not been making income, I can't afford the rent, food, or gas to make it to my Doctors appointments. I have also been wrongfully treated by my employer and had to open a complaint and possibly a lawsuit against my supervisor. I tried to give my employer a chance to take care of it, but I was told I can't even complain because I am out on leave. If I voluntarily quit and look for part time work can I qualify for unemployment?

On a daily basis, our family has headaches and we are concerned for our 18 month grandchild. Our lease ends in 8 months and cannot deal with this for that long. What rights do we have and is it legal for us to break our lease without action taken against us?
