QUESTIONS

  • In April of this year My landlord and I made a verbal agreement on renewing my lease, my lease ends July 31st. On July 2nd I gave him a call to ask when I can resign the lease we had verbally agreed to. He then tells me he rented out the apartment that I am living in and can no longer live in that apartment. However, he did offer another apartment $200 more than what I'm paying right now. Also note, I have had several problems with him trying to tow my truck by saying I was taking two parking spots which in reality I wasn't and I took a picture of it. What do I do in this situation.
  • I just rented a new apartment and there has roaches infested in the unit. I notified the manager via text and he already spray the unit but there are still lots of live roaches roaming around the unit after 10 days.   • My ex stole my dog. I adopted her while we were dating, her adoption paperwork is in my name ONLY. We have since broken up, and he took her without my permission and will not return her. One cop said it's theft of personal property, but suggested trying to deal with it directly with my ex first, then follow up if she wasn't returned. I followed up and the next cop I talked to said it's not theft of personal property because I adopted her while in the relationship with my ex, and the adoption paper doesn't matter even if my ex and I were never married so it's not a criminal issue. Is this true?
  • Our heater works but does not provide airflow to the bottom story of our apartment.Twice, we asked the apartment manager directly to make repairs but repairs were never made. On Monday, we sent written notice of intent to terminate lease per ARS 33-1361(A). The apartment manager told me on Monday that someone would be over Tuesday to take a look at our unit but, again, they never showed up. Do I have grounds to terminate on Saturday if nothing is done? The term "reasonable heat" seems arbitrary and I want to make sure I have legitimate grounds for terminating my lease.
