QUESTIONS

  • My landlord and I agreed upon me sending him 12 post dated checks for each month of my lease to be deposited on the appropriate month. After 6 months renting from him I closed my account due to fraudulent activity and have decided not to open another. I notified my landlord of the closure and advised I would be either mailing or making a direct deposit into his account going forward. I have never been late with my rent and my landlord is now telling me that the post dated checks are a requirement of my lease. Again, we agreed on the checks but I never understood it as a requirement.
  • My ex has sole physical custody of my 17 year old child and has just kicked her out. Is there a law against this?
  • My vehicle was recently repossessed. The towing company won't allow me obtain my personal property left in the vehicle until I pay the accrued "storage fee" that increases $20 daily. Is this legal? Can I charge them for the car keys that they want me to turn over?
  • My neighbor upstairs has 3 kids aand 2 adults. I have gone to management many times to ask them to send a notice about being too loud. The jumping around is so loud it vibrates my windows,I have gone up to talk to the lady and ask her to keep it down a bit. I saw one of the children riding a scooter in the apartment and another jumping off furniture,I told the management about this but they told me it's "part of apartment living" In the lease it states I'm allowed my peace and quiet. 2 days later I got a notice saying I'm not allowed to "pound excessively" on the neighbors door. What can I do?
  • if i pay my rent early what does that mean do i save anything for the following month
  • My granddaughters are 13, 12, and 10. Their father is a truck driver and has called them insisting that he is coming to get them for the summer. They have told him they do not want to go with him. He said they have to. Can these girls be forced to go with him? He has no residence, he lives in his truck, eatting and bathing in truck stops. He calls only now and then, sometimes not for six to eight months depending if his current "woman trucking companion" will allow it. Right now he is between women, his last one facing jail time for Shop Lifting. The girls can not afford a lawyer. thanks
  • the owner of my residence is selling the property and my lease is up march 31 2013. I was advised by owner I could rent month to month until the property is sold. How long do i have to move out after sold

  • I have full custody of my three girls. Ages 5, 8 and 10. My ex/their dad is very involved. My boyfriend has a legally adopted son/nephew who Is 18 years of age and a junior in high school. Who I was going to allow to live with me. My ex is threatening attorneys and fighting for custody because I am allowing this boy to live in my home. He is a good kid with no criminal history nor any record of any trouble. If I marry his dad, he will be my stepson. Does my ex have a leg to stand on? I will not risk losing custody of my daughters.
