I received a notice from the IRS saying that they will levy my Social Security check for non-payment of taxes. I am 70 years old. My only source of income is Social Security of $1798 per month. I have no assets. I live in an Assisted Living facility which I pay room and board of $1649 from SocSec and ALTCS benefits pay the balance. I am left with $109 per month for personal needs. Can the IRS levy 15% of my Soc Sec? How do I stop this levy?

I rent a single family home in Tucson Arizona and over the years the roof has sustained significant water damage due to negligence and poor construct. We recently received heavy rainfall and the roof leaked, causing the ceiling to collapse into the home. Landlord sent two roofing companies to inspect the roof, both said it’s unsafe but did not use the word uninhabitable so therefore landlord will not break lease. He has contracted for roof replacement but that means we are still in the home with various cracks through out the ceiling. Can I get my own evaluation done and get out of this lease?

Do I have to run credit on everyone that turns in an application to rent my property? What are fair reasons to deny the application without running a background? I have an applicant threatenubg to file a complaint on a violation of the fair housing act, citing race as her reason. honestly, i’m not sure what race she even is but I denied her because she stated on her application that she filed for bankruptcy in 2010. What is fair in this instance? Are there printed guidelines for landlords to follow when accepting a renter?

I have been paying child support to my ex since the day our child has been born. We have split up since. I am worried that because I have not made the payments through the system that they are not going to count. How can I make sure what I have already paid and what I will be paying will be counted if she takes me to court? I have a girlfriend now and I believe when she finds out that is where we will end up.
