My landlord sent me a check, for what I believed was compensation for my a/c being out for 3+ weeks with temperatures in the home exceeding 100 degrees. I contacted them to ask how the amount was calculated. They then responded that it was noted in my account that a check was sent to us, and would get more information. A few days later they stated that the check was sent in error, and to return the check. What is my legal obligation?

I am a cashier and stand for 8 hours. Have severe leg and back pain. My doctor filled out the form to reduce my hours to 20 and no more than 6 hour shifts. For the FMLA do I have to be employed for 12 months for just a reduction in hours. Need to know before I submit form.

My wife and I are retired seniors. She brought home a flyer from the mailbox advertising a Handyman. Our evaporative cooler stopped working. This man came over and said he could fix it for $210.59. The next day he came back and after looking around for a while he said they don't make these kind of control boxes anymore. He came over that night with a friend of his, John, and they both decided they would have to look for the parts. The next day they both came back with a computer. Jim sat at the computer and started rattling off numbers to John who was using a calculator. After much running in and out to the cooler it was decided that the job would cost $1055.29. My wife and I looked at each other and decided we couldn't live without a cooler in Arizona. I asked Jim how much of a down payment he would need and he said all except $100.00 to buy the parts. I wrote out the check to Jim's Handyman Service. The next morning he called and said three of them had to go to Phoenix to get the parts but he would have to stop by my house first because they would not take a check made out to his business. I thought it strange that someone would run a business using personal checks but wrote out one to Jim Petty which my wife brought out to the gate and exchanged it for the business check. Therefore I never received a receipt for the $745.29 check. That afternoon they called me on the way back from Phoenix and told me that they would be at my house at 8:30 that night to install the parts. I reluctantly agreed and thought it very strange that they wanted to install the parts in the dark. At 9:45 pm the phone rang and they were at our front gate. I told them we were going to bed to come back in the morning. At 7:30 the next morning they were installing the parts into the cooler which included a new thermostat that was previously mentioned to cost between $300 and $400 alone. They finished the job by 9:30, I paid Jim the last $100 and they left. We had no instructions for the thermostat and only two scribbled over work orders mentioning $210.00,$118.00 and 109.00 in various spots on the work orders. We never received a contract, warranty, nothing! After the cooler started to cool the house down we found out it would not shut off or on automatically once it reached the ambient temperature. I called Lowe's and a man tried to help us because they sold that kind of thermostat but eventually said he couldn't help us because he would have to see how the control box was wired and that it was probably wired wrong. I called Jim and asked for an itemized invoice. He agreed but I never heard from him again. He also has not responded to my e mail messages. On one of the scribbled work orders was written a 10 year warranty on parts and labor and 5 years on the computer (if you can read it.) I only signed one of the work orders. This person has "Jesus is Lord" printed under his name on his business card. If you ask me that's all part of the scam. He and his friend John have no intention, that I can, see of ever contacting me. If I could, I would attach a picture of the 'kit' he installed. It all comes in one box and all the 'so called' parts including the thermostat cost $149.99!

My ex husband wont let my 13 year old son live with me and my son is threatening to run away from him and he was drawing pictures of himself dead. I am afraid of what he will do if he has to be there. He lives in kingman az and I live in texas. I need to know how I can get custody back from here. I tried to hire a lawyer and she was going to charge me 4000$. I cant afford that. Since he is 13, how would I get him to the court to tell the judge he does not want to be there he wants to be here with me. Please help me asap. Thanks

I have been seoerated from my husband for the last 8 week. He told me to take my two boy age 6 & 8 and move to my sisters in Nevada. I have both boys in school here and have a new job . befor my paper were filed with the Nevada. He filed in AZ. I was served today with paper stating I must return the children to Flagstaff. I need to know what I can do to appeal this discision. My husband has anger issues he is bypolar and has very eratic behavior

Is being dyslectic considered to be a form of disability that an employer can help with by providing standards to follow rather than every employee doing the same jobs but calling each process different at will. It’s very confusing to me being a dyslectic. This company is very adamant about not providing standards as not to hamper individual creativity. I believe there should be some sort of middle ground that will help me quite a bit. I’ve been trying to make some changes without revealing my disability but in doing so, it appears I am, and am considered not so smart. I’m not sure what I should do. I’m feeling the pressure of some that I not so good at what I do and that’s not true. My job title is a Structural Designer II

This past February (2014) my kids father and myself came to an agreement that he would take the kids to school two days a week. However he takes them to school late often, they're not finishing homwork, and are loosing sleep because he lives far so theyre waking up about an hour earlier then when i have them. Is there anything i can do about this? Ive tried resolving this with him but he refuses.

I was in a auto accident(rear ended)insured resides in Az. His Insurance company is located in Ca. I want to take his insurance co. to a Small Claims Court in Az. How do I serve summons to the Insurance Co. since Insurance is located in CA. but it does business in Az.(out of venue)

I rented my space in November and there was the remnants of the prior tenants porch in my backyard they at that time told me they were going to move it. It has not been moved the owner mentioned to me today that he was going to park a trailer in that spot like a work trailer I just want to know if it's legal for him to park and for me to store his property on my rented space?
