My mothers health has drastically changed and she only lives on social security, a very small disability bi-weekly stipend and has medicare. While my mother has been accepted for medicaid as a secondary insurance, she will have to contribute monthly of $406 so that she will be able to have full time home health care (vs only part time with medicare). This expense will make it impossible to help her pay her credit card debts off. My mother needs to contribute to medicaid but then won't have enough to pay off her debts. What are options as far as her credit cards? Should I close them (with her on the phone) and let them know that she is unable to pay so we'd need a settlement price? Or just walk away? I am unsure of her options as my original plan was to help her pay them off one by one.

My ex-husband and I divorced in 1992 in KS and had 3 minor children at the time. My ex rarely paid his support and actually owes his children thousands of dollars. The question: the children are adults who have been residents of AZ for many years. They now really need funds and I'm unable to help. How would I initiate an audit of monies owed, and where do I start since none of us have been residents of KS for many years. My ex resides in SC. I have been told there are no time limitations to child support.

I recently purchased a car and put it in my girlfriends name because she has the drivers license and I currently do not also she agreed to sign a public notary stating that I am the sole owner of the vehicle and we only put the car in her name because she had a license at the time and I did not and for insurance purposes. Now my question of course would be does that legally protect me from her having legal ownership of the vehicle say if hypathetically we break up and she decides to try and take my car.

Are the terms of a loan modification completely at the discretion of the lender or are there state or federal guidelines they must follow? Homeowners must become 90 days behind to get my mortgage company to consider modification. By this time, isn't my credit nearly as damaged as it would be with foreclosure?
