My daughter is turning 18 but won’t graduate high school till she’s 19. She has been alienated from me and refuses to spend any time with me. Stays with her mother. Can I emancipate her when she turns 18 and stop child support without waiting till she’s 29 and graduated high school.

I was convicted of DV Agg. Assault w/ a Deadly Weapon in 2001. I served 3.5 yrs. for this crime. I was under the influence of drugs/alcohol at the time, and also going thru a bitter divorce suit. I am wondering if there is any way I can get my gun rights restored? I am not planning on going hunting, or shooting someone, but with the crime rate escalating due to the economy staggering, I would NOT want to be sentenced to prison for protecting my own life as a prohibited possessor. What, if any, steps do I need to take to attempt to restore my rights. Thank You for you time !!!

My landlord sent me a 5 day pay or quit notice to my place of employment, along with a copy to my work email,I work at a large company of about 2k, mail is not given to us directly. It is opened by a mail room clerk and then distributed (if they feel it is work related) to the appropriate dept managers. My work email automatically sends acknowledgements when you open an email. So I know my landlord received this acknowledgement. My question, is can my landlord send me this 5 day notice to my place of work? Is the signature from the mail clerk acceptable in court?

My husband and my daughter (his stepdaughter) were in an argument and my daughter slapped my husband in the face. My husband called the police and now wants to get a restraining order. My daughter was in the wrong by getting physical but I also don't think a restraining order is needed. Where does that leave me. My daughter can never come to our house again.

My mother is threatening to take my son from me under grandparents rights. Even though my 6 month old son is well taken care of and has no threat of abuse whatsoever, I do not wish for my mother to see him for personal reasons. She still threatens to take home from me. Is he in the legal right to do so?

My Step-daughter lost custody of my grandson in 2006 and the father has refused visitation by our daughter or by us the grandparents. Is this right or is it against the law for him to not allow us or his mom visitation? If so what recourse does she have and us as grandparents? He says we are not the grandparents because my wife adopted her daughter and because of that we are not blood so we have no rights. Please help I have cancer and would love to see my grandson before anything bad happens to me?

About 10 years ago I had an affair that ended with the birth of a child. This relation ended (my wife is aware of all this) and since then I have been paying child support. Recently the woman with whom I had the affair married and asked me to sign a legal paper whereby I agree to allow the child to change her last name and assume that of her husband. Does this imply her husband adopted the child?
