My ex and I divorced with one child. He owns his own business and put down his estimated income on the child support form. It was signed and finalized as a part of the divorce and he paid child support and 70% of medical bills. We are updating our incomes and he is stating he made less than expected and that, because he was incorrect with his income, I owe him thousands of dollars for the over-payment. Is this accurate? It was he who stated and signed that income amount and because he was wrong, he is stating I owe him for my daughter's medical expenses and child support he paid.

I was cited for driving on a suspended license. I did not know my license had been suspended. I read that this criminal charge can result in jail time and fines. This is my first criminal offense. Should I get legal counsel? What are they typical rulings for first time offenders? I have been laid off and am not working, how to I get a public defender's help? Thank you in advance for your advice.

Four years ago I was arrested for a misdemeanor NSF check charge. I paid the check, no conviction was entered, the case was dismissed. However, the arrest still appears on my record. Is it possible to get this arrest record expunged? I am applying for a federal job that requires a criminal background check and would love to not have this arrest appear on my record.

I have lived with my fiance' who just passed away, for many years and handled all of Debra's medical and financial matters since she had cognitive deficiencies fro her heart issues. I need a copy of her death certificate and all my attempts have been denied by her dad, who only wanted Deb to leave me so her dad could put her in a long term care facility. I need the certificate for our bank and many of Debra's doctors, which include creditors. I need an attorney that can request this document for me. Bill

Our house has been with a broken AC for 3 weeks. We have had to wait for a repair, another repair, a second opinion, another attempted repair, etc. Today we were supposed to have someone come to our house and give us a new unit but when I asked my landlord where they were she said since our house was at 82 degrees we got pushed for people with hotter houses. Our house is cool because we had to rent a mobile AC unit. Our electric bill is twice as much due to a 30 year old AC. What right do we have and should our landlord pay for some of our electric bill?

In May, I moved into a 12 unit complex in Scottsdale with a pool. The pool was green & the landlord told me it was being emptied, retiled, and filled & would be closed for a couple weeks. I am about to pay August's rent and the pool is still out of commission. It was emptied and two workers came one day to chip away the tiling. Nothing has been done since. What rights do I have as a tenant to start deduct rent or demanding repairs? The pool was a driving force in my renting & it's making a terrible for a terribly frustrating AZ summer. What do I tell my landlord??

I moved in the 4th of July weekend, signing a 1 year lease, which will convert to month-to-month after the 1st year. On 12/31/15 I received a notice that they were raising my "tax" amount effective 2/1/16 - is this legal? And once the lease becomes month-to-month and you agree to a rental amount increase (which is sure to come), do you legally have to sign the agreement which is the same format as a "1 year" lease? Is it also possible to receive a copy of the "Landlord/Tenant Handbook"?

Our 12 yr old grandson in NY has been in foster care for almost 2 years and the Child Protection department has filed for termination of parental rights against our daughter. We are grandparents living in AZ and have filed in NY a petition for custody against our daughter. I believe we filed for custody of our grandson against his mother prior to the petition for parental rights termination. Must the judge hear our custody petition first? If the court rules in our favor and gives us custody of our grandson will his placement with us be governed by the ICPC or will we be considered an exception? We cannot afford an attorney and NY will not appoint an attorney for us since we do not reside in NY.
