  • My ex husband notified me on Monday that he is planning to move to Irvine CA at the end of May. I cannot afford to hire a lawyer because I'm still paying for my most recent legal fees regarding visitation... I desperately need help because I only have 60 days. Of course, I do not want my son to move with his dad and stepmom. She is abusive (mean), and he would spend all of his time with her because his dad is rarely home.
  • My AC is not working. I have grandchildren living with me. I have notified landlord, but he has not sent anyone to repair. How long do I have to wait for a response from landlord. If he doesn't repair soon, I will have to go to a hotel. I have already purchased 2 fans,(blowing hot air only) We cannot live in this hot house. What are my rights?
  • We received info about renewing our lease, at a property where we have lived for almost 1 year. When we moved in, we noticed the irrigation system needed repairing, but the property mgmt. company said the landlord would not repair it, and to use an above ground sprinkler, which we did. One of the conditions on the option to renew states: "The tenant shall maintain the landscape irrigation system, including the automatic timer, in good working condition and make any needed repairs at their sole expense." Isn't this forcing us to repair the irrigation system was never worked right? Ideas?
  • My lease ended and I moved from my apartment earlier than I originally anticipated. When planning my move I had submitted a request to forward my mail with an effective date of June 1st because I wasn't anticipating moving early but that's the way the movers worked out. I asked my old complex if they would allow me to get my mail from my box since I have turned in my keys to them already and they said no. I also asked if they would get the mail and just allow me to pick it up and they said no to that too. Are they allowed to withhold my access to my mail?
  • Have Lived at the same complex for the past 3 years. The complex has new owners for the past several months. Old management used to give me (at my request) a copy of my check with the stamp and /or signature of received. Deadline to pay the rent is the 3rd of each month. Now the new management refuses to hand me a receipt before the 4th of the month. My question is, where is the proof that I handed the check to them in time to avoid late fees? There lot of rumors among neighbors that they are trying to scare people out to renovate more units and raise the rent. What are my rights? Thank you.
