  • Hello, I don't know if this is the right category. I was supposed to move into an apartment May 2020 but due yo COVID-19 I'm cancelling my scheduled move in for safety purposes and other obvious reasons. I already paid application and admin fees while applying for the apartment. The apartment is saying I won't be able to get my administration fee back because I'm cancelling. Is this possible and what can I do? Thanks
  • I have lived in the same apartment for the last 3 years. It is a 30+ year old complex and has had few if any true upgrades. It was recently sold to another company and AMC took over the management of the property. In addition to a Common Area Maintenance fee attached to the utility bill, they refuse to come down in price of the monthly rent. Is this a case of price gouging and also is the CAM fee legal?

  • I live on an apartment complex that has individually owned units but one HOA that covers the entire complex. The pool has been out of use all summer (green and disgusting), despite numerous complaints. Today, I noticed a flyer from the Maricopa County Environmental Health Department that the pool was closed by the county because it is in violation of health codes. Is there some way I can get my rent reduced because of the lack of access to the pool? Considering I chose this location and agreed to the higher cost of living because there was a pool at the complex. Just curious about my rights.
  • My ex-wife and I were divorced in 2010 and our dissolution documents were very vague concerning my military retirement. It states that "each of the parties shall be awarded, a division of their respective share of military retirement accumulated between the date of marriage and date of separation." Since there was no percentage or amount specified, she is now trying to file a new Domestic relations Order in order for me to give her a portion of my retirement. What can I do in order to make sure it is divided equitable and fair, so I do not get steamrolled in this matter?
