QUESTIONS

  • I am an independent student at ASU and resident of Tempe, AZ. I have four months left on my residential lease. With the COVID-19 National Emergency announcement and ASU cancelling all on campus sessions, I would like to cancel my lease for the rest of the semester and move in with family. The Arizona Residential Landlord and Tenant Act makes no mention of National Emergencies and rights extended to tenants. My lease agreement also has no provisions, including none for Force Majeure. Any guidance you can provide would be appreciate. Respectfully,
  • My landlord gave me a 10 day notice to cure the "problem"and the very next day I hired a lawyer because it was a made up story she put on it. The same day I hired the lawyer I get a non renewal of lease 60 day notice. Would this be considered retaliation.

The only solution they have offered is the tiny cockroach tabs to put in cabinets. Is there a way to break my lease because the landlord has not provided a "safe and habitual environment?"

  • Hello. My ex husband and I were not married nor was he around and in the picture when our son was born so I gave our son my last name. My son is going on 8 years old and my ex wants to change his last name to his. My only issue at this point is my son knows his last name by now and I don't think it's right to change it if it's not something he wants to do.
