  • We moved into a house and the hot water heater doesn't work. We submitted a maintenance request on 4/22. 7 days later I sent an email for status. 05/01 a tech came out to do repairs. 05/02 the pilot light still won't stay lit. I submitted a second maintenance request.on 05/02. It is now 05/06 14 days in out new rental home and there is still no hot water. I emailed for status on 05/05.. Still waiting to hear back from Re/Max. What are my rights? Can I replace the water heater and deduct it off my rent payment?

  • This is a plea for my best friend. She is desperate need of legal help. She has shared custody of her 7 year old daughter with the father of the daughter and his wife. Her ex and his wife have harassed her, have bullied her by coming to her work and causing a scene, that resulted in the police getting called. They have given consent for the daughter to have surgery without the consent of my friend (the girls mom) or even telling her that she was going to have surgery. My friend found out after the surgery was done and the girls face was swollen and purple.

  • We found mold and water damage in our unit. The landlord put me in a hotel for 8 days and then said i will have to find somewhere else to stay because the issue would take 2 months and the unit would be uninhabitable. She then wants me to just go find somewhere to live for the time it is getting fixed. Isnt she supposed to provide me somewhere to stay while this gets fixed? She wants to return my rent for a prorated amount for the 8 days i was in a hotel. Shouldn't she give me the full rent back if the hotel didn't have a kitchen and was noy equivilent to what i was renting?
  • My family has been living at our location for over 3 years. We just asked to renew our lease a few months ago. As we were going through the house to see what needs to be fixed and repaired, my wife and I admitted that a few things is our responsibility. Other things I feel should be our LL. We had someone say that who ever done the tile did a bad job, and that the kitchen needs to be replaced. That was why about 9 tiles cracked.   • We had a roommate. He started drinking heavily again while living here even though one of the agreements was that he didn't. He was late on rent, and after causing a lot of drama ended up getting arrested for DV within the house and is not allowed to return here without police escorts. We also have an Order of Protection against him. A lot of his stuff is still here at the house and we are trying to figure out how long we are obligated to keep it. This happened mid June and it has been over a month since the last time he came to get anything. Thanks in advance.
