QUESTIONS

  • When I was 14, my olet sister had a baby boy. A few days before he was turning two years old, she was found abusing him and my other older sisters 5 year old daughter. The police did nothing but a few months later, she left and never came back. I've been taking care of the boy since he was barely 2. He's almost 8 now. My mother was supposed to try to get custody and hand it to me but she didn't. Now I'm 21. He knows me as his parent. He doesn't know anyrhing else..what can I do if the mother isn't around?
  • Can the apartment management come in to my apartment and take photographs? I refused but they did it anyway, I asked him to leave and he ignored me. The photos included my entire kitchen, my pantry that I purchased and it has glass doors (not part of the apartment, a stand alone cabinet) and my bathroom. We had recent repairs but he didn't take photos in the areas repaired and refused to answer why. My personal belongings were in the photo. The apartment was very clean, nothing Out of compliance but I feel my rights were violated.
  • I had an INJUNCTION AGAINST HARASSMENT filed against me in an attempt to stop me from feeding abandonded cats. The judge awarded the plaintiff a 500 ft.distance keep out zone. This person has no evidence of harassment but still won,What can I do to protect my family from this threat of jail etc.?The judge stated that I have used MY hearing time and that I had no LEGAL OBJECTION to counter this case-what does that mean?
  • My husband abandoned me knowing i had no means of paying any bills because I am disabled and currently waiting approval of my benefits. Due to my disability, i can not work and therefore i can not pay mrent. I have exhaustrd.all my resources. I am very behind on rent, but I have been making payments towards the past due rent whenever I was able to and these payments were accepted. Now my landlord wants to evict me. He knows i am disabled and waiting for benefits. I was told i couldn't be evicted if my disability was the reason I couldn't pay rent, which is my case. Is this true?
  • I have a question concerning tenant/landlord laws.

  • I am a landlord and have a question about my legal rights to be notified by the power company (SSVEC) before they shut off service because the Tennant did not pay their electric bill. The signed rental contract gives permission to the power company to notify me of a pending shut off. They have this agreement on file. It gets below freezing here and this puts our units at risk of having frozen or bursting water lines. Also the smoke detectors are disabled. I never want the utilities turned off on the apartments because of this. They just shut off the power for 10 days before I'm aware.
  • My lease agreement with my landlord ended in November 2018. We are still living in the Unit, but she gave us a notice to vacate by april 6th 2020. She never made us sign another lease agreement for the last year and a half. I'm choosing to move out March 12th but the landlord is saying I still have to pay March's rent because my roommate is staying until March 31st. Am I obligated to stay and pay March's rent even though there is no new lease agreement and I signed a notice to vacate by April 6th. Which I'm leaving before that.
  • What is the actual process for evicting a homeowner after the property has been foreclosed, including timeframes?
