QUESTIONS

  • I got married in the US, but my spouse is a Korean citizen and never lived here, just visited. He went back to korea and got a divorce over there (mutual). Now he is legally divorced thru korean court and I have the official notarized court documents. Is it automatically accepted here in the USA? I am trying to get married again to someone else and want to make sure we are allowed to now.
  • I am currently in the Military, expecting to get out in October, and moving from Washington (where I am currently stationed) to my home state (Arizona). Can I file for custody as soon as I am back in Arizona considering I am from there and it is still considered my home? Or do I have to file in Washington where he and I are currently stationed?

  • The child support payments I pay are garnished through my employer. The monies are paid to a gov't clearing house agency in Phoenix. When I changed jobs and wages began garnishment (eventually) the amount that was garnished was incorrect. I didn't realize and had no part in setting up the garnishment. Now I am being sued for arrears. Who is responsible for submitting the correct garnishment calculations? The court order clearly states the monthly amount to be paid.
  • My friend's wife passed away back on February this year, and had a life insurance policy for $20,000.00. He is been calling and the answer is that they still investigating her claim. She died of Heart related illness. My friend does not want to hire a lawyer for that amount of life insurance. Is there any way that he can put pressure to the insurance company? Is there something your organization can do to help? He is willing to pay a moderate fee to accelerate the process?

My ex moved to CA 4 years ago and my son went with him so at the time we did a document stating my son would live in CA and my ex would have custody of him.(this document was not filed with the courts) My ex has moved back to AZ and my son wants to go back to the original parenting plan and custody arrangement. My ex wont let him and states that the notarized document states he has full custody and only can see me every other weekend. Is this notarized document legal or is he illegally withholding my son from me?

My daughter never left a legal document giving me custody or guardianship of my grandson. My grandson's father is not and has never been in his life. We don't even know where he is or how to locate him. How can I get legal guardianship or custody of my 13 year old grandson?
  • I am a foreign national married to a US citizen and am currently preparing my immigration package to become a permanent resident. For the affidavit of support I got a bank statement showing payments from my main source of income, but it contains a disclaimer from the bank stating that they do not guarantee its correctness. I am worried it might affect whether it is accepted as evidence. Could this disclaimer become a problem in the immigration process?
