Name Change
questions & answers
Question: How much does it cost to get a name change?
Answer:
There is a filing fee; the amount varies from county to county. According to the AZ Courts page, to petition for a change of name in the AZ Superior Court, there is a base fee of $166, plus an extra $30 for the Doc. Storage Fund and the AZ Lengthy Trial Fund, totaling an estimate of $196. Please check with your specific court for additional local fees. Visit this website to find the superior court in your county.
If you do not have the money to pay the filing fee, you can ask that it be waived (so you never have to pay it) or that it be deferred (so you pay it later). Click here to open the application for deferral or waiver of court fees and/or costs and consent to entry of judgment.
