questions & answers
Question: Am i suppose to get a lawyer appointed to me by the court for a criminal offense such as racing.
Answer:
Whether a person is appointed counsel depends on the type of crime committed and whether the person is determined to be indigent. Arizona Rules of Criminal Procedure 6.1(a) refers to the Right to be Represented by Counsel. That rule states, "A defendant shall be entitled to be represented by counsel in any criminal proceeding, except in those petty offenses such as traffic violations where there is no prospect of imprisonment or confinement after a judgment of guilty." To find out more about appointed counsel, many county public defender's offices have websites.
