Question: Hello. I was just wondering what an Early Resolution court hearing is?
Answer: "Early Resolution Court (ERC), a court calendar organization system designed to promote early resolution of criminal charges" This definition is from State v. Ramsey, a 2014 Arizona Court of Appeals decision. It goes on to say that early resolution court allows a plea agreement to be entered shortly after charges are brought, before a grand jury indicts the defendant or the discovery process begins. The plea agreement is then entered before the judge at an early resolution hearing.
