Question: My lawyer says I have to lose my case first to start veterans court. Is this true?
Answer: No.If your misdemeanor is being heard in one of the justice courts where Veterans Court is an available option, you can ask the judge or prosecutor to recommend you for Veterans Court at any time in the process. There are some towns like Apache Junction, for instance, that do not offer Veterans Court. Go to this website to see if your case is in a location with a Veterans Court. https://dvs.az.gov/veterans-court
