Question: If a police officer who arrests you has been terminated from the police department, but works for a new police department what happens to the charges? The charges have not been filed with the court yet.
Answer: Generally the charges continue. If a trial results from the charges, the officer may be subpoenaed to appear regardless of whether the officer currently works in that department or in a different one.
