Protection Orders
questions & answers
Question: I just found out I have a protective order filed against me that says it has been served I have never been served what do I do
Answer: An order of protection becomes effective only after (1) the defendant is served with a copy of the plaintiff’s petition and the court order (A.R.S. 13-3602(K)) and (2) the court that issued the order receives proof that the defendant was properly served (A.R.S. 13-3602(L)). If a defendant believes that he/she was not properly served, then he/she should contact the court that issued the order (or, if that is unclear, the court in the location where the defendant resides).
