Eviction

questions & answers

Question: I received an eviction notice stating people reported I am not picking up after my dog, but I always do. There is another person with the same dog as me, so it may be her. I asked for proof but they have none, just the person who reported it. What is my recourse?

Answer: All a tenant can really do is explain the misunderstanding to the landlord and do whatever is required to convince the landlord that the tenant has not breached the rental agreement in the past and/or the tenant will not breach the rental agreement in the future. If the tenant’s argument fails to persuade the landlord, then the tenant will need to persuade a judge.
