QUESTIONS

  • Can they take my federal income tax money to satisfy the debt?
  • Divorce decree states my ex is to pay half of a credit card bill either in monthly payments or half of the balance. He is not paying me or the credit card company. The only payments he made were during the time we still lived together. I deducted his half of the payment from my half of the monthly bills. How can I get the court to enforce what is on the decree? Also, I no longer reside in the state of Arizona and do not have money for an attorney. Thank you.
  • Some states websites, such as MA, state that the home office expense taken on a tax return may be a countable self-employment expense for SNAP (Nutrition assistance) benefits. I cannot find anything about this on the DEA/FAA website, AZ Admin. Code, FAA Policy Manual, etc. Does anyone know? If so, and if countable, can you point me to a code section or rule number I can cite to get DES to permit this expense to be counted?
  • Where do I go to get a lawyer to represent me in a child custody/abuse case?
  • My mothers health has drastically changed and she only lives on social security, a very small disability bi-weekly stipend and has medicare. While my mother has been accepted for medicaid as a secondary insurance, she will have to contribute monthly of $406 so that she will be able to have full time home health care (vs only part time with medicare). This expense will make it impossible to help her pay her credit card debts off. My mother needs to contribute to medicaid but then won't have enough to pay off her debts. What are options as far as her credit cards? Should I close them (with her on the phone) and let them know that she is unable to pay so we'd need a settlement price? Or just walk away? I am unsure of her options as my original plan was to help her pay them off one by one.
  • I received a summons for an old old credit card debt. If I answer it in justice court (small claims) I guess there are no appeals. How do I request Superior Court?
  • After foreclosure involving a single family residence the new owner filed an unlawful detainer action against the tenants who had no rental agreement after serving them with a 90 day notice to quit. The tenants refuse to move and have not paid rent. They only had a month to month oral agreement with the former owner. One of the tenants claims that he is on parole and cannot be evicted. Is this a valid defense to the UD action?
