QUESTIONS

  • After a 24 hour eviction can you receive your rent or deposit back?
  • How long does my landlord have to make a repair that affects the security of my building, such as a broken door that allows people who don’t live here to enter a building that they advertise as secure? If they do not make that repair in that time frame, do I have the right to withhold rent?
  • In 2013 I got charged with drug paraphernalia, I never went to court do I had a warrant out. In 2018 it got dismissed after 5 year review.. I recently got in trouble and have a court date coming up soon, is there any chance they can reopen and charge me for the case in 2013?

  • I have a Health Care Advance Directive from another state. Some of my friends say it is valid, others no. I suspect it is really up to the local hospital/doctor whether to honor it. Can you tell me if there is an AZ law that REQUIRES hospital/doctor to follow it? If so, can you tell me the law (statue??) that applies so I can refer to it if necessary? Thank you
  • My landlord has not returned my security deposit. Next Monday will be 14 business days (AZ law) She is being shady and I have a feeling she has no intention of giving it back or my prorated rent for that matter. (It was a month to month lease but right after I gave my 30 days she found a new tenant so she owes me for 90% of the month as well) In her lease contract she wrote that she has 30 days to return deposit, however that goes against the state law. Will I have to wait 30 days or does State Law trump a lease contract?
