QUESTIONS

  • I have lived as a tenant for the past 3 years and every year a major appliance breaks, first it was the microwave, then the stove/oven, and now the refrigerator. Each repair takes over 2 months. My refrigerator broke on 7/23 and it is still not fixed! Can I pro-rate my rent for the days without a working refrigerator? Our food has gone bad and it is still not repaired! So frustrated!
  • My husband is in the army and is stationed in S. Korea until March of 2012. We have a 3 year old daughter who lives with me. My husband informed me that he wants a divorce. He's going to see if he can get one started on the base where he's stationed. Can he do that? Also, should I file for legal separation now, or do I need to wait until he's back.   • I moved into a student housing complex where I was matched with 3 roommates. I filled out a questionnaire to match me with roommates where I noted no pets. Upon moving in I discovered my roommates had 2 cats, I have never had an allergy to cats. Within 5 days of moving in I had to go to urgent care where I was diagnosed with Allergies. Now I have to take medication daily to keep the headaches under control. I notified my leasing office and they are not willing to do anything about it. Is there anything I can do? There is nothing in the lease agreement about that.
  • Are landlords responsible for termites/ swarmers in apartment complex!? Lease states they cover “pest control but excluding “wood eating insects” and they are not responsible for any damage to my property because of them... !? That cant be legal. Its like living outside with all these flying termites.
  • when a commisioner signes a court order with /s/ instead of a real signature, is this still a legal signature. I was reading that if a judge wasn't to sign a court order that it mean other things - this is why I ask.
