QUESTIONS

  • I am divorced and currently pay child support. My x was arrested for dui (metabolite) with our 15 year old in the car when it occurred. My x decided not to accept what tthe city offered to settle and decide to go to trial. Can I file for full custody and have child support paid to me if she is convicted? What is the process and how long does it take? Or can I have my child support obligation remove altogether?
  • Lived at Board and Care in Dolan Springs. The owner took my monthly check and deposited it in an account without my knowledge and she would not give me any information about what bank this account was in nor the number to the account. When I left her board and care in July she told my hospice RN that she would be closing this account. I have no way to find out if the account existed and if it did has she closed it by now.
  • Hello! One of my friends who lives in a trailer park/mobile home is being forced to move since the new owner is essentially shutting the place down. Can he be compensated based on the fact that him and his family were going to be able to finally own their home in September of 2018?
  • My daughter was born in a different state than which we live in. I am in the process of leaving the father because he verbally abuses me on a daily basis. We know that he is not her biological father, can I have his name removed from the birth certificate in the state we live in? Can I change my daughters last name from his last name to mine?
  • Informed my complex that I was shopping for a house 7 months ago. At that time I asked what was needed to break the leases, afraid I would have to pay both a lease and a mortgage. They told me I would just be responsible for a 60 day notice and a fine of approximately $45 for every month I received a discounted rate by signing a 13 month lease. I learned the day before the prorated rent was due, I was also responsible for a full months rent, I do not have the funds. I paid the prorated. Is there a standard of time that I can make payments before it goes to collections? Please help.
  • I had a question in relation to access notices. A lot of landlords are currently only responding to emergency maintenance calls to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and limiting person to person contact right now. With that being said, if a landlord serves a tenant an access notice stating that they need to enter their dwelling for a pest control inspection, can that tenant deny entry if they have concerns of others being in the home at this time, or does the landlord still have full access rights as long as they provide notice 48 hours or more in advance?

  • My son's father and I were never married and we broke up before he turned 1. I have sole custody and he has visitation time which his parents use as he has zero interest in being a part of my son's life. My son is now 12. I have been married for over 6 years and my husband and son both want for him to adopt him. My son views my husband as his (only) dad. My ex is an alcoholic who recently picked up his 3rd DV charge against his current gf. If my ex is willing to terminate his parental rights so my husband can adopt my son, how do we cancel out our current agreement and terminate his rights?
