My step-son was arrested by Phoenix PD on 2 counts of agg. assalt w/deadly weapon. He was protecting his mother from a drunk neighbor who was about to beat his mother up at their front door. He had picked up his rifle and had it in his left hand when he open ed the door to get his mother inside their apartment and away from the drunk. My question is why was he even charged? As an ex-law enforcement officer I would see this a self-defense. The state is now wanting to give him up 25yrs per count. Is there any case histories that a ruling would apply this case to self-defense.

my husband left me and my children, he is the father of our 6 yo daughter. He has been gone almost 2 months, and has not helped out financially at all. My question is, in the event of my death or incapacities, how do I grant my parents legal custody of my daughter. I am wondering if I can type a letter and have it notarized since we have not started divorce proceedings at this point in time. I just want to make sure my parents get my children in case of tragedy.

We just moved out of a rental and we had it professional cleaned and carpets cleaned. Our landlord is deducting from our deposit depreciation for the carpet. we lived there three years and in those 3 years we had the kids rooms get a couple small stain. I understand the stains but can the land lord take money away from us for depreciation on the carpet? every house is going to get depreciation over time and use and they are the one renting it out and even if they weren't they would be living in it them selves. if a landlord can do that than they are going to start doing it for the house. We have lived in our apartment for just about 9 yrs. my landlord has completely ignored basic maintenance of this place. I have two giant holes in my ceiling (bedroom.) Termites in my son's room. No garbage disposal, which my landlord has bragged about not replacing to other tenants. He always wants to save money, so the few things he does replace are in poor condition or are jerri-rigged. Our main water valve is connected to our neighbor's. Swamp never wrks. He shows up unannounced or doesn't show up for agreed upon time. And more! What are my rights to get my deposit back and move out?
