  • My landlord has sold the house I am renting. I have 10 months left on the lease. The new home-owner is not buying the house as "occupied". I have agreed to move out. Do the old homeowners owe me any sort of compensation because they broke the lease (comparable to what I would owe if I were the one breaking the lease)? I had about 1 weeks notice. Thanks!
  • We just moved out of a rental and we had it professional cleaned and carpets cleaned. Our landlord is deducting from our deposit depreciation for the carpet. we lived there three years and in those 3 years we had the kids rooms get a couple small stain. I understand the stains but can the land lord take money away from us for depreciation on the carpet? every house is going to get depreciation over time and use and they are the one renting it out and even if they weren't they would be living in it them selves. if a landlord can do that than they are going to start doing it for the house.   • We have lived here in an apt. type setting for 11 months. We are curious if we can break our lease based on several factors. One being that our dryer, which they supplied, has NEVER worked and shocks us (safety issue). We've complained on several occassions (including the month we moved in). Nothing has been done, and now we can't use our dryer. Or, the fact that there wasn't for at least 7 months, common area lights outside. Now there are....or the fact that my husband fell down in an area on the complex with no lights (outside apt. complex). HELP!

They had maintenance fix mailboxes few weeks back but they never got to my and the office lady was unable to give me another date when maintenance plans on fixing mine. Am I obligated to pay rent since my mailbox is broken so I'm unable to receive any mail.
