  • We just moved out of a rental and we had it professional cleaned and carpets cleaned. Our landlord is deducting from our deposit depreciation for the carpet. we lived there three years and in those 3 years we had the kids rooms get a couple small stain. I understand the stains but can the land lord take money away from us for depreciation on the carpet? every house is going to get depreciation over time and use and they are the one renting it out and even if they weren't they would be living in it them selves. if a landlord can do that than they are going to start doing it for the house. • Due to an unforeseen medical condition which is now being treated by hospice care, can a tenant legally "break" a rental agreement because this place of residence is not handicap accessible?
  • We signed a lease saying we were responsible for plumbing issues. We should not have moved there. We’ve had plumbers out so many times and we still have no working toilet or sink. Is there anything we can do at all. I feel like we’re stuck for a year without a bathroom with children and a brand new infant in the home. Any advice?
  • Is there specific paper I need to move out of state after a divorce where I have received sole custody of the children
  • I moved into my apartment two months ago and realized that the front windo was broken upon moving in. They had someone look at it and get an estimate and turns out the window needs to be replaced. How long do they have to fix it? It’s been over a month already.
  • If I bring a letter from my insurance company stating all claims have been satisfied to the district attorney will this help reducing my fine
  • We gave a roommate 30-day verbal notice that his month-to-month lease was up. If he doesn't leave could his drinking binges (including driving on a suspended license, with no insurance), and belligerent, vaguely threatening but scary behavior be enough to get an immediate eviction started? He will go into the kitchen falling down drunk when everyone else is asleep, and I'm afraid he could start a fire, by accident or on purpose. Or would we have to give him written notice and start from square one? Thanks!
  • Am I required by law to give a formal 5 or 10 day notice for repairs for lack of hot water to terminate our lease if no reasonable effort was made within 5 days to fix the issue or was our initial maintenance request sufficient notice of the problem?
  • My daughter and I leased an apartment 2 weeks ago. The police served an arrest warrant on my daughter's friend who was visiting our apartment yesterday by forcing entry into the apartment and also conducting a search of the entire apartment. The police told me this was in reference to an ongoing criminal case against this person. I am concerned that we will be evicted even though we had no idea that her friend had a warrant for his arrest and do not have any idea why it was served at our place of residence. Should I speak with the management to proactively avoid any type of repercussions?
