QUESTIONS

  • My landlord sent me a check, for what I believed was compensation for my a/c being out for 3+ weeks with temperatures in the home exceeding 100 degrees. I contacted them to ask how the amount was calculated. They then responded that it was noted in my account that a check was sent to us, and would get more information. A few days later they stated that the check was sent in error, and to return the check. What is my legal obligation?

  • Two of my rental properties have stopped watering their lawns, so now all grass is gone. I pay for landscaping when my tenants water or there are weeds, but no need lately with no grass or weeds. My concern, though, is that both homes have large queen palms, that are dying or dead from no watering, I believe. If lack of watering kills the palms, can I charge the renter for the removal? Thank you.
  • Im rent an apartment for my son who is in school. His normal electric bill has been 54-59 dollars a month. His AC started having problems and the apartments handyman looked at it and said it was fine but in 2 1/2 months he ran up an $892.00 eletric bill. The manager finaly had a real repair man in and fixed it. Now the bill is back to normal. But they refuse to pay the bill. They just continue to tell us they dont reinburse for electrical. I cant pay the bill all at one time and now the electric company said they are going to turn off the power if not paid in full by June 29th. What can I do??

My father has threatened to file for temporary custody unless I allow my son to stay with him until the case is closed. I do not have the funds to fight my father in court and felt I had no other choice. My son has been with my father for three nights now. I want to take him back home with me but does my father have the ability to take temporary custody and if so do I need a lawyer to deny him this?
