What's the legal way to evict my ex-husband out of my apartment? I am the only one on the lease and he is an "approved tenant". I only allowed that 2 months ago because I moved to California and still had 6 months left on my lease and at the time he was working and was suppose to pay the rent. I came back after one month and had to catch up the rent and move back in and now he's not working or contributing anything, so I want him to leave since I am the only one legally responsible for all the rent. How much notice do I have to give him to leave? My landlord said I have to evict him.

I received my electric bill this month and it was nearly 9 times what I usually pay. I think it was because of the water heater in my apartment. It was malfunctioning and wasn't heating the water correctly for about 2 days, and then it was fixed by the apartment maintenance. I've talked to the landlords at my apartment complex and it seems like they are not going to help me in any way with my electric bill. If it was the water heater, is it fair that I have to pay the electric bill for their water heater malfunctioning and sucking up electricity for 2 days?

Our landlord has decided to upgrade/renovate all apartments and says we have to move into another apartment either temporarily or permanently (our choice). This will cause inconvenience, time, energy, and money since some of us will need help moving furniture. Must they pay moving expenses, move our belongings for us, or compensate in any way? Can we terminate our lease (mine is up in a couple of months) because we are forced to move all of our belongings out? I'm thinking if I have to move everything out anyway, that perhaps I should just move altogether. The apartments are in good shape.... nothing wrong with them. What are my rights? How much notice do they have to give us? Btw.... I have housing assistance. Thank you

i am in a 12 month lease, with 5 months left on said lease. today my landlord came to my door with a 30 day notice of rent increase, its been increased 45 dollars. i checked my lease there is nothing in it saying they can raise rent at any time during the lease agreement, my question is, can they do that? do i have to pay the increase or just what my lease says my rent is.?
