QUESTIONS

  • My fiances' ex-wife received over $100,000 in an informal inheritance- her and her brother sold property and split the equity. His payments are current and we see his son regularly. Would her receiving the inheritance change his child support obligation?
  • My landlord allowed people to live temporarily on the property in a mobile home. The mobile home was broken into so she installed cameras to protect my house and the barn that sits on the property. The cameras were installed with the use of my personal wifi. During this epidemic of the coronavirus I have been unable to work or pay my wifi bill. So the landlord purchased her own wifi and had it installed in the barn. She removed the cameras from my home and says now I must secure it myself. Is this legal?
  • I have had my elderly parents living with me for the last 2.5 years. We have had to buy a larger house to accommodate them plus our children. How much of the household expenses (mortgage, utilities, food, etc.) can they contribute to (they have IRA's and social security) without a tax problem for me. I do not claim them as dependents on my taxes.
  • My husband and I have partial custody of our 11 year old son. His child parenting plan states that he is only see his son every other weekend for a total of 6 days a month. His mother and stepfather are constantly traveling for work. We end up having him 50-75% of the month. He feels unloved in the other home. At what age can my step son choose to live with us or with them. We are from Minnesota, but permanently reside in Arizona now.

  • My power was recently turned off my APS without any notice. This was a discrepancy in billing due to an error on their side. I had no idea there was even an issue. According to them I needed to make a deposit payment to a separate account that I was not aware of. The person who set up the account did not notify me of this and made an error inputting the deposit amount. My dog was in out house with no AC while we were working and it was 105 degrees outside. I was wondering if it is legal for them to turn off our power when it is over 100 degrees without any notice.
  • My daughter passed away from cancer 2 years ago. I took over the care of my grandson, who is now 13 years old. My daughter never left a legal document giving me custody or guardianship of my grandson. My grandson's father is not and has never been in his life. We don't even know where he is or how to locate him. How can I get legal guardianship or custody of my 13 year old grandson?
  • My father (73) was diagnosed with lung cancer few months ago. I do not know how much time he has left. He owns a house in Mesa, and my sister lives with him. The house is under his name and he has a will that divides evrything he owns 50-50 between my sister and me. Now, when he passes away, can my sister still be in the house and assume mortgage payment? If my sister and I want to sell the house after my father's departure, can we do that? If so, how does that work?
  • I am married with one child and carry my maiden name. I would like to hyphenate our daughters last name to show my maiden name and her father's last name. Can I do that?
