QUESTIONS

  • Is a landlord legally required to provide external doors for apartment entrances, or can they use hollow interior doors instead of exterior doors? My apartment had a hollow door for my apartment entrance that got damaged and the property management is making me pay for the new solid, exterior door to replace the hollow interior door used incorrectly as an exterior facing door. I learned that my apartment was not the only one on the property with an interior door used as an exterior door and would like to know how legal that is.
  • I am renting an apartment that had significant water damage from the tenant above. This happened on 07/22/2017. We currently still have no ceiling in our closet, there is still a leak in the closet. The carpet pad has been removed and the bedroom carpet needs to be replaced. I have already tripped on the carpet and luckily not hurt, but the new owners since 9/7/2017 are not repairing our unit. Can I use uninhabitable living conditions to break my lease?
  • If you set aside misdemeanor conviction of domestic violence in state of Arizona are you still subject to penalties of still being unable to own a fire arm?
  • What is the Arizona statute of limitations for a car loan on a repossessed car? 4 years or 6 years? When does it start running? After the first missed payment, or after the car gets auctioned off? Some people say the S.O.L. is 4 years because it is a car loan, and falls under this law: "47-2725. Statute of limitations in contracts for sale A. An action for breach of any contract for sale must be commenced within four years after the cause of action has accrued." Others say it is a written contract and therefore is subject to the standard 6 year S.O.L. Which one is correct?

  • I have a 10 yr old son. His father's name isn't on birth certificate. He has not helped at all. I started to take him for child support but that fell through. I really don't want him involved in his life. He shows no concerns of my son's welfare. My question is can I change my son's last name (his father's)to mine without going through the courts in establishing him being his father? We were never married. His last contact with him was over 4 yrs ago. There is nothing that's been done through the courts. I also want my fiance to be able to adopt him (they want that too)
  • Is there a "lemon law" for refridgerators. We have a fridge less than 4 years old, the compressor went out and GE fixed it without charge. Then a month and a half later the freezer stopped working. It was repaired, then broke again one month later. Repair men have been out to the house multiple times and can't fix it. GE is stating that they will give us a discount on a new model but will not replace under the limited 5 year warranty. Do we have any legal rights in AZ? Thank you.
