QUESTIONS

  • I am taking FMLA leave to have a baby in March. My HR dept is telling me that they will pro rate the rest of my pay until my contract year is up (I am a teacher). Your website says that once I return from FMLA, I receive the same salary. I cannot find that information on the US Dept of Wages and Labor website - please advise. Thank you.
  • I rent a single-family dwelling & my lease states that the landlord is responsible for all Landscaping in the front & back of the house. Does this mean that she is responsible for the payment of the water for the sprinkler drip system? Currently the only water meter is on my water account that I pay for. Is it legal for her to dictate how much water is used for the bushes and trees outside the house? She does not allow me to adjust the sprinkler system at all & she has her gardener increase the water for her orange tree without my knowledge or consent. Again, the water meter is under my name
  • I filed for ch. 7 bankruptcy and my debts were discharged on June 2011. To this date I'm badly behind on my house payments, and my lender offers me a reduced monthly payment of $350. The problem is that my lender does not want to make any promises in writing and does not give me straight answers on what happens if I keep my end of the deal. I'm affraid my lender will simply foreclose when it may fit its interest, disregard of my needs. Also, it is wise to enter into any deals post bankruptcy if my debts are discharded already and thus, uncollectable? Thanks!
  • My lease began 5/19/17 the landlord promised the house would be ready to occupy. I only moved some furniture there 5/20/17 moved more furniture used toilet discovered nothing toilet tanks have black mold growing . Requested remediation of mold. Only removal of mold occurred no cleaning of tanks to remove spores or tencales upon inspection if tanks evening of 5/21/17 new mold was reappearing tank had strong odor of mold when openened. Is landlord required to remove this health hazard? Am I bound by law to the lease? Do I have rights to reimbursement of moving expense?
  • I'm a survivor of domestic violence and sexual assault. It's been four years since the last domestic occurred and I moved to Washington to get away from my abuser with my kids. • My husband and I gave Temp Guardianship and then Guardianship after 2 years to his mother. The years were from 2000-2004 that she had our children. Since June 2004 the children have lived with me. That was Almost 10 years ago. Almost 5 years ago she passed away. At least 7 of the 10 years she has not complied with the court yearly. I want to know since my childrens father and I consented to the guardianship in the first place. Once his mom passed, would the children fall back to us? If not I need to know what papers I should file to say I'm back and I have the children? thanks so much
  • The windows in the bedrooms of our one story do not open, isn't that illegal because it's considered a fire hazard?
  • Can a judge grant tenants an extension of their lease if landlords refuse to renew a lease upon expiration, based on family hardship making it impossible for the tenant family to relocate?
  • My husband has a child from a previous relationship. We aren't positive that the child is actually his. He is a resident of Arizona, the mother lives in Washington state along with the child. My question is this, which state , Arizona or Washington, would have jurisdiction to decide Child Support payments and establishing paternity?
