Landlord and Tenant Rights and Responsibilities
questions & answers
Question: If CPS has taken my kids will I lose Section 8?
Answer: As a general rule, a tenant whose rent is subsidized by Section 8 may lose their housing if they violate the rental agreement (for example, if the tenant, a member of the household, or a guest engages in criminal activity) or if the basis of their eligibility for the subsidy changes (for example, because the size of the household changes). You may wish to discuss this with DCS, the housing authority, and/or seek legal advice.
