QUESTIONS

  • We are told a new law became effective in Jan. which requires changes to the Trust having to do with notifying beneficiaries every year of the amount of the estate and their inheritance. Is it true? The lawyer wants the full price of the trust to amend it. Can I find the law on the Internet? Is it boilerplate and easily done without using that same lawyer? Please direct me. Thank you.
  • Who do I report to if I know of someone working while being paid for medical disability?
  • I was an independent contractor for a local company. First, can they require a person to give them 60 days notice prior to quitting? I did quit (didn't give 60 days). The owner is claiming that I still have paperwork and keys, which I have turned in everything, and she's withholding my last paycheck. Can she do that? Can I, as an independent contractor, file a wage claim?
  • My landlord issued a letter in May, stating that that was my 48 hour notice that she would begin showing my apartment to potential tenants. However, she is stating that she can show it from 12:30-7:30pm every day of the week with that notice. Is that legal?
