  • I have rented for 3 years and a year and a half ago my girlfriend moved out - walked out on the lease. I stayed and informed the landlord that my girlfriend had walked out. I am now leaving the property and have given proper 30 day notice. The landlord is stating that the security deposit has to be made out to both myself and my ex because we were both on the original lease. My lease expired and I have been on a month to month basis for the last 2 years. Can the security deposit be issued in my name only if requested in writing on the Notice for Return of Security Deposit?

The value is 22,998.00 with 17,200.00 still owing on the finance contract. He owned nothing else of any value.   • I gave my 30 day notice on April 1st stating that I would not be renewing my lease at the end of May. I also informed the office that I'm moving out on May 8th but I'm paying rent for the whole month of May. I requested a move out inspection Friday May 8th after I take all my belongings out. I was told by the Secretary that the manager does move out inspections when he feels like it. I am unable to return for a move out inspection because I am starting a job in another town. My question is from what date do I begin counting the 14 days for my security deposit to be returned?
  • I filled an application and put $200 down for a deposit. I told the complex I wanted to move in. I was involved in a car accident and I received a call the next day saying I had to be in the office by 6pm to sign a lease. I asked if I could come in the following day. The complex told me no. I asked for my deposit back. Initially the complex stated they would give me a refund. But a few days later the apartment manager noted I was not going to receive a refund. I have not heard from the complex and I would like my $200 back. Is there anything I can do?
